Regarding the article, “Transit ballot measure would extend rail to Everett — in 2041”: $50 billion dollars for light rail that won’t be here until 2041. These guys have got to be kidding. Do you realize how much $50 billion is? This would be the most expensive regional public works project in our nation’s history.
As we have seen so far there is a poor track record, they are not to be trusted. I have five questions I want you to ask yourself.
Why would we want to do this, are there better options?
What have you got for your money so far from the voter approval vote of 1996?
Do you want to start paying $50 billion in taxes and fees now for a project that may or may not be completed 25 years from now?
Do you really think you will be paying only $200 per year over the next 25 years?
Are you getting your money’s worth; will you actually use it (don’t forget there will be no parking)?
Whether you vote for or against this, go in with your eyes wide open. Please cut this out and put it in your calendar for early November. If this project gets on the ballot review these questions before voting.
