CAMAS — Thomas McKeown’s goal in the second overtime lifted the Snohomish High School boys soccer team over Camas 2-1 in the opening round of the 4A state soccer tournament on Wednesday night.
The Panthers headed to the second overtime deadlocked at 1-1 before McKeown’s shot fell at the last minute of the second extra period.
The Snohomish defense held Camas forward Bennett Lehner, the gatorade state player of the year, scoreless in the match.
“They were very disciplined tonight,” Snohomish head coach Dan Pingrey said.
Snohomish will now travel to Skyline to face the Spartans on Saturday. The time of the contest is yet to be determined.
Waiting for the Panthers in that match will be the 4A Kingco champions, which is a team similar to Camas, according to Pingrey.
“They have a good attacking forward that scores a lot of goals,” he said. “We’ll be prepared for that.”
At Doc Harris Stadium
Goals—Eric Jones (S), Toby Pizot (C), Thomas McKeown (S). Records—Snohomish 15-1-4 overall. Camas 17-2-1.
