Medical technology isn’t just cool, it may one day save your life.
Because I write a fair amount about the Bothell-centered cluster of medical device companies in Snohomish County, I headed down to the American College of Emergency Physicians convention in Seattle today.
There, SonoSite showed off its M-Turbo model, which it released last week. But the doctors were stopping by mostly to see the S-FAST, which the ultrasound company unveiled this morning.
The S-FAST can be carried or mounted to a wall, ceiling or hung on an IV pole, so it doesn’t take up any floor space in the emergency room, where it’s designed to be used. It’s also designed for fast, easy use.
Hand-carried ultrasound devices are becoming more common all around hospitals and doctor’s offices. The Associated Press this past weekend had a story looking at the trend, which has been pushed along in part by SonoSite’s advancements.
