Don’t be surprised to see more than one tiny, young gymnast in the stands watching the 2012 Kellogg’s Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships this weekend at Comcast Arena Everett.
McKenna, a pretty girl with caramel-colored hair and blue eyes, is a tumbler and likes to practice on the balance beam.
She’s 18 inches tall and is the 2012 Girl of the Year at American Girl, the ultra-popular toy store for young girls that opened last year at Alderwood.
Each American Girl doll comes with a story, explained in a book that’s included with the doll’s purchase price. McKenna retails for $105. Her gymnastic wardrobe is $34 and a special high bar, pads and balance beam cost $85.
While McKenna may be good at gymnastics, she struggles with reading. The self-reliance skills she learns on the gym mat help her achieve goals in the classroom. Not a bad lesson for life’s tumbles, twists and twirls.
McKenna is available at the American Girl store at Alderwood, or online at americangirl.com.
