Opera lecture: Get a sneak peek of Seattle Opera’s performance of “Lucia di Lammermoor” at a lecture by expert Norm Hollingshead at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lynnwood Library.

Hollingshead will talk about Donizetti’s romantic and heart-breaking music using selections from his collection of rare recordings.

The free lecture will be in the large auditorium at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W.

Wake-up call: Roy Holman, author of “Healing Self, Healing Earth: Awakening Presence, Power and Passion,” will give a talk at 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Everett Public Library.

Holman, owner of Health Connections in Everett, gives workshops and classes in yoga, meditation and reflexology.

Book sale: Buy books at a bargain and help the Mill Creek Library at the gently-used-books sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Selections include hardcover and paperback, fiction and non, cookbooks and children’s books. Proceeds from the sale benefit library programs. If you want more of a bargain, prices are slashed in half at 2 p.m.

Bring your own bag to tote your haul.
