50 years ago (1962)

Elmer Novak was having a grand opening on the 23rd of Novak Oldsmobile in a remodeled space formerly housing Dolloff Oldsmobile at 2820 Oakes. The dealership also sold GMC trucks.

The Steak House at 111 No. Olympic in Arlington advertised a special dinner for Thanksgiving. The five-course dinner included fruit cocktail or tomato juice, soup, salad, roast tom turkey with all the trimmings or baked ham with Yorkshire sauce, whipped potatoes, vegetable, roll, beverage and pie for $1.89 a plate.

25 years ago (1987)

A brush fire in two canyons overlooking Puget Sound on the Tulalip Reservation had crews working through the night. Chief Denny Malone of Fire District 15 said the fire was between Spee-Bi-Dah and Tulare beaches, approximately 10 miles west of Marysville. About 15 acres were affected.

A public meeting to discuss progress on a surface water basin plan for the Silver Creek drainage area in the Mays Pond area was scheduled at Woodside Elementary School. For more information about the meeting or the topic people could call Mike McGuiness or Doug Beyertein of the Snohomish County Public Works Department.
