50 years ago (1962)
Jennie Culmback, widow of George Culmback, former mayor and ommissioner of Everett, joined Commissioner of Safety C. Arvid Johnson, PUD Commission Chairman Perry Black and Mayor George Gebert as a resolution was read naming the new Sultan River dam for her husband.
A B&M store opened today at Everett Avenue and Broadway. Pete Eckrem was store manager with Chuck Smith and Tom Randklev as assistant managers. Chuck Sanders was in charge of the meat department.
25 years ago (1987)
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Cascade High School graduates and brothers Tom and Shawn Hoban returned to Everett to start their property management company, Coast Management. They signed a property management contract with Ray Sievers on Oct. 23.
The first major fall storm of the year swept through the state, triggering minor flooding around Everett and causing small power outages and fender-bender accidents in Snohomish County. Everett Public Works workers were knee-deep in run-off, according to utilities superintendent Clair Olivers.
