The Everett YMCA was beginning a fall Skin and Scuba course starting tonight for eight consecutive Wednesdays. Skip Lucken was the instructor, and was assisted by Dick Knudson.
Engineer Paul Gustavson climbed down from his four-unit diesel helper engine for the last time yesterday, ending 51 years of service with the Great Northern Railway Co., most of that time on the run from Skykomish to Cashmere.
25 years ago (1987)
Ten county dentists provided between $7,000 and $9,000 of free dental care for about 130 people who couldn’t afford it. They did all different kinds of dental work, according to Tim Chields, president of the Snohomish County Dental Society. Among the dentists were specialists who would donate their services upon referral from the other dentists.
Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington was offering X-ray services to trick-or-treaters who brought in their Halloween candy for inspection.
