50 years ago (1962)
Officers installed when Tterve Chapter National Secretaries Association met in the Elks Home were: Elsie Lewis, president; Cecil Murphy, vice president; Beverly Takus, secretary, and Arleen Briggs, treasurer. Audry Hage, a 1962 graduate of Stanwood High School, received the $100 scholarship given annually to a student interested in the secretarial profession. The award was presented by Elaine Oke, chairwoman of the scholarship committee.
James M. Seim Jr., whose parents lived at 2504 Grand Ave., graduated magna cum laude from Simpson Bible College in San Francisco, Calif., this month, and had been called to serve as pastor of a new Christian and Missionary alliance Church at Escondido, Calif.
25 years ago (1987)
Edwin B. Reger of Everett was named vice president of implementation and support for WM, Financial, Washington Mutual’s holding company for its subsidiaries. Reger previously managed Washington Mutual’s Alderwood financial center.
Maureen Pierre of Edmonds had joined the Seattle office of William M. Mercer-Meidinger-Hansen Inc. as a communications consultant. Pierre was also awarded the 1987 Totem Award for external communications from the International Association of Business Communicators.
