50 years ago (1962)
Opening tomorrow was Hol’n One Donut Shop at 2718 Colby Ave. Although not a chain, it operated as a franchise with other shops of the same name. Running the specialty shop were the Syversons and Jarmans. Congratulatory ads came from Gulick, Duryee, Ray Keith Neon, Rodgers Electric, Goldfinch Bros. and Callahan Plumbing &Heating.
Dr. Harold “Spike” Silvernail, superintendent in the Edmonds School District, was one of 18 U.S. educators to tour Russia and Eastern Europe last October. He was giving a talk and slide show on his impressions tonight at Everett Junior College.
25 years ago (1987)
The eyes had it at the Everett Clinic Optical Center. They were having an eyeware fashion show, showing the full 1987 line of Tura eyewear. Renae Knapp, author of Beyond the Color Explosion, was providing free color consultations. Refreshments would be provided.
Hairtrends had Wash’n Go and Shorter Looks. A haircut was $6.95 and a perm $22.95-$39,95. No appointment was necessary. They had stores at the Everett Fred Meyer, Everett Claremont Village across from Ernst, Marysville Kmart and Frontier Village.
