50 years ago (1962)
The Switchmen’s Union of North America Auxiliary installed its officers at a meeting in the Monte Cristo Hotel. They were Katherine Shasky, president; Emma Wade, vice president; Mary Ren, secretary; and Mae Jordan, treasurer. Buffet luncheon and social hour followed.
Carol Ronken was re-elected president of the Girls Service Organization of the Everett YMCA. A 1961 Everett High School graduate, she was employed at J.C. Penney and attended Everett Junior College. Other newly elected officers were Sharon Atkins, vice president; Judy Wiltse, secretary; and Mary Peppers, treasurer. Outgoing officers included Carol Marcus, Sandra Thyholt, Marilyn Paul and Sandy Penelerick.
25 years ago (1987)
Long-time hearing aid dispenser Robert S. Well, of Everett, had been appointed by Gov. Booth Gardner to the Washington State Council on Hearing Aids, an advisory board to the State Department of Licensing.
Wayne M. Cranston, of Everett, was named Soldier of the Month for his Army operations battalion in West Germany. Also in West Germany was Army Pvt. Louis S. Pirone, of Lynnwood, who was a signal brigade telephone repair specialist.
