50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Eleanor E. Ahlers, former Everett High School librarian, would be the featured speaker at the meeting of the Washington State School Librarians in Tacoma. Everett school librarians to attend were Connie Mortvedt, Vesta Spurrell, Angelin Tesdell, George Douglas and Lauretta Thompson.
Paintings of Eva Perkins of Snohomish were on display at Smitty’s Pancake House on north Broadway. Roy Dolphin, proprietor of Smitty’s, invited the public to see the paintings. The exhibit was sponsored by the Everett Art League.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Gina Burger was recently selected Providence Hospital’s Employee of the Year for 1985. A senior occupational therapist, she was instrumental in starting Providence’s Occupational Therapy Department 10 years earlier. Burger had played an important role in promoting the benefits of occupational therapy in the community.
Doug Williams of Everett was recently awarded the John J. Nothnagle Senior Knight Award given by the national real estate franchise of the Gallery of Homes. He and his wife attended the Gallery of Homes national convention in Tucson, Ariz. A Snohomish native, Williams was formerly a teacher in Mukilteo.
