50 YEARS AGO (1960)

June Remboldt and Paul Harbeck were guests of honor at the luncheon meeting of Everett Exchange Club at the Monte Cristo Hotel. They were the club’s girl and boy of the month. Presenting awards were C. Arvin Johnson, Everett commissioner of safety, and L.R. “Johnny” Johnson, Exchange Club member.

Ruth Graham took her third-graders from Pilchuck School in Lake Stevens on a field trip to the new Tradewell store on Evergreen Way. Student Beverly Weaver was particularly impressed with T-bones steaks being sliced off by Art Ray, meat cutter at the supermarket.

25 YEARS AGO (1985)

David McCourt, a popular history and political science instructor at Everett Community College, was leading a tour of Ireland this summer, sponsored by the college and Travel Connection, an Everett travel agency. Among places participants would visit were Blarney Castle, Aran Island, Donegal, Dublin, Wexford and Killarney.

Jennifer York responded with a season-high 24 points to lead the Everett Community College Trojans past Shoreline, 61-55, in a women’s basketball game. Wendy Bachofner scored 13 points and Lisa Lielke 11 for Everett, building a 38-26 halftime cushion.
