WOODLAND — The Cowlitz County sheriff’s office says two adults and five teens were rescued from a small island in the Columbia River after their boat lost power.
A 17-year-old boy who had tried to swim for help ended up clinging to a river piling for about two hours. The sheriff’s office said Antonio Danda was very weak and unable to stand when he was rescued. The Daily News reported he was treated for hypothermia and released.
A fire department boat rescued the group Sunday night after two women heard them yelling for help. The island was about a quarter mile off Austin Point near Woodland.
