Everett: Land use concepts for K-C mill
The City of Everett Planning Commission will hold a workshop on four alternative land use concepts for an area that includes the former Kimberly-Clark mill at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave.
The draft plan includes redevelopment concepts and ideas about how to include public access.

Police plan DUI emphasis patrols
Police agencies around Snohomish County plan the annual “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” emphasis-patrols campaign Friday through Sept 3.
Last year in the county, during the same time period, 113 people were arrested for driving under the influence in Snohomish County, transportation officials said.
People are reminded to call 911 if they believe they see someone driving impaired, and to try to provide details such as location, vehicle type and license plate information.
The Snohomish County DUI &Target Zero Traffic Safety Task Force help organize the campaign.
EvCC orientation planned for Sept. 12
Everett Community College’s Next Steps orientation for new fall quarter students and their families is to be held at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 12 at EvCC’s Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St.
Students who started summer quarter also are invited to attend.
At Next Steps, students will learn about college planning, transferring, paying for college, study tips, student life, meet current EvCC students and more. EvCC Outreach and Diversity, Enrollment Services and Financial Aid staff will be available to answer questions.
Starting at 4 p.m., students can purchase parking permits or ORCA bus passes, get free student ID cards and buy textbooks in the Parks Student Union. A campus tour will be offered at 4:30 p.m. starting outside of Jackson Center.
