SULTAN — Searchers found and recovered the body of a Monroe woman Saturday, nine days after she fell over a waterfall at Cedar Ponds Lake.
Jazmine Weitlauf, 22, fell into swift water on the night of April 12, off Dagger Lake Road south of Sultan, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Heavy rain and rising waters stalled efforts to find her.
A team of volunteers led by the sheriff’s office returned to the falls Saturday, to resume the search. One of Weitlauf’s friends found the body around noon in a tangle of logs, branches and debris.
It took hours to carry the body from the water, and hours to bring her out of a canyon and to the road.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
