MONROE — A Toyota Camry plowed into a family of eight that was crossing a road in Monroe on Tuesday night, leaving a 5-year-old boy with serious injuries.
The driver, 20, of Granite Falls, may have suffered a medical emergency around 8:30 p.m. on Woods Creek Road, according to Monroe police.
The family was in a crosswalk north of U.S. 2 when a northbound Toyota Camry struck three of them: the boy; a girl, 10; and a man, 35.
The boy was thrown forward, run over and dragged about 40 feet, police said. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with a broken leg and other injuries.
The girl and the man suffered minor injuries, according to police. They were treated at the scene.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation Wednesday.
