Mardi Gras: Edmonds Lutheran Church hosts “Mardi Gras Sunday” with a special service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday that features the Uptown, Lowdown, Dixieland Jazz ensemble playing traditional New Orleans-style jazz as well as accompanying familiar hymns. A “Fat Tuesday” pancake breakfast runs before and after the service, 9:30 a.m.-noon.
Men’s retreat: The Men’s Advance, an all-ages retreat for Christian men, is set for March 7-9 at Warm Beach Camp, 20800 Marine Drive in Stanwood. World Day of Prayer: A worship service and program of events celebrating the World Day of Prayer will be held at 9:30 a.m. March 8 at Arlington United Church, 338 N. McLeod Ave. This year’s international program was written by congregations in Egypt and include a history of Christianity in Egypt up to the Arab Spring uprising.
