First whale sighting

Gray whales, common visitors in the spring, made their first local appearance of the season.

Sharon Johnson saw the first spout Monday from her home at Potlatch Beach on the Tulalip Reservation.

A lone whale seemed to be feeding in the shallow water south of Priest Point. The neighbors joined her in watching it.
