Country Living Expo
Registration is open for the Country Living Expo and Cattlemen’s Winter School, set for 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 26 at Stanwood High School.
The event offers 165 classes, 60 vendors and a prime rib or vegetarian lunch.
The livestock enthusiast can select a full track of classes on beef, sheep, swine, goats or horses. Classes will cover gardening, beekeeping, food preparation and preservation, the business aspects of small-scale farming, and the pleasures of country living.
Organizers have added 45 new classes, including landscape design, lefse making, fly-fishing, building a cob oven, growing hardy fuchsia flowers, sous vide cooking, giant vegetable growing, killing slugs and making pie. By popular demand, extra cheese and soap making classes have been added.
Registration is $65 per person, or $60 if paid by Dec. 31, and $10 for the first 200 students ages 12-18.

Talk about Edmonds roundabout: Edmonds is hosting a public meeting on the Five Corners Roundabout project at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Plaza Room above the Edmonds Library at 650 Main St.
The city has completed the environmental documents and 90 percent of design plans for the project. A roundabout will be installed to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection. The project will also add street lighting, landscaping, stormwater improvements, replacement of watermain and services, and the underground conversion of all overhead utility lines.
People are invited to participate in a public meeting to discuss ideas, concerns and issues regarding the project.
