The Interfaith Amigos are visiting Whidbey Island this weekend.
For those of faith, it’s as big a deal as having Justin Bieber pop by Langley Middle School.
The three men have been written about in The New York Times, “Three Clergymen, Three Faiths, One Friendship,” a CBS news report and they are fixtures on National Public Radio.
They will attend Whidbey Interfaith Vigil of Peace and Hope at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Angustine’s-in-the-Woods at 5217 S. Honeymoon Bay Road in Freeland.
The trio will be available to answer questions.
They are imam Jamal Rahman, rabbi Ted Falcon and pastor Don Mackenzie. Rahman is a Sufi Islamic minister at the Interfaith Community Church in Ballard; Falcon is a Reform rabbi who founded synagogues in Los Angeles and Seattle; and Mackenzie is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and recently retired as pastor of the University Congregational United Church of Christ.
The rabbi and pastor became friends during a Christian-Jewish dialogue group.
Falcon and Rahman met when they were on the board for a new university, which never took hold, but their friendship did.
The J Bees from Mukilteo will sing a Buddhist chant and Karl Olsen of the Brothers Four will lead the gathering in song.
