MONROE — A Monroe man is in custody after a police chase along U.S. 2 that started with a 911 call from his wife.
She told dispatchers her husband was holding a knife to her throat.
Paramedics later took the woman, 41, to the hospital. She had cuts on her throat and gasoline had been poured on her, said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. She is expected to survive.
The 911 call came in around 5:30 p.m. The woman and her husband, 38, were traveling east on U.S. 2.
Somewhere near Index, they turned around and headed west. Police attempted to use spikes to stop the vehicle. One set of spikes punctured the tires, but the vehicle kept going, Ireton said.
As they reached Monroe, a deputy conducted a PIT maneuver, which involves tapping the back bumper of a fleeing vehicle and causing the driver to lose control.
The Monroe man was arrested near Blueberry Lane and Kelsey Street.
