The wet winter of 2010-11 caused more mudslides and more disruption for Sounder commuter trains between Everett and Seattle than ever. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, which owns the tracks, requires a 48-hour waiting period as a safety precaution before passenger trains can resume service. Here we present several measures of the inconvenience.
The first mudslide of this winter season took place in north Edmonds the morning of Nov. 23, the day before Thanksgiving, resulting in the cancellation of seven Sounder runs.
