Volunteer: Hospice and home care

A free information session to review the volunteer opportunities at Providence Hospice and Home Care is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 21 in downtown Everett.

Participants must register to get driving and parking information by July 19.

Shop: Lions Club holding garage sale

The Edmonds Lions Club will host a garage sale on July 24 to benefit the Lions Sight and Hearing Program.

The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 8225 210th Pl. SW., in Edmonds.

Celebrate: Camano Library celebration

Music, ice cream, two raffles and free books are all part of how the Camano Island Library Friends plan to thank the community.

From noon to 3 p.m. on Aug. 21 the Friends will host a celebration with free activities and entertainment for all ages.

A children’s nursery rhyme-themed quilt made by Amy Hickok and valued at $300, and a two-piece pottery set by Mark Eikeland valued at $80, will be raffled off during the event.

Both items are on display at the library, 848 North Sunrise Blvd., Camano Island.

Raffle tickets are $1 each and available from library staff.

Individuals and families who sign up as new Library Friends will be invited to choose a free adult or children’s book at the event.

Musician Bryan Stratton will perform at 1 p.m. and ice cream will be served and children’s activities provided in the courtyard outside the library.

Enter: Terrace juried art show

Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission is seeking paintings, prints, drawings, miniatures, calligraphy, photographs and 3-D works for its 32nd annual juried art show in October.

More than $3,000 in prize money is available. Arts of the Terrace is held Oct. 1-3. The entry deadline is Aug. 30.

Learn: Lynnwood offers classes

The city of Lynnwood will offer residents the chance to attend a free informational nine-week Lynnwood University.

The city-sponsored program teaches about Lynnwood city government, its operations and how to find services.

Classes are from 7 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday, Sept. 9 through Nov. 4. Demonstrations, tours and hands-on activities will be conducted by city staff, City Council members, and the mayor.

The registration deadline is Sept. 1. Space is on a first come first served basis.
