EVERETT — Snohomish County plans to convene a series of salary commission meetings on Wednesday to figure out what the executive, sheriff, assessor and other elected leaders should earn.
The commission is comprised of 10 people. Six are registered voters chosen by lot from different parts of the county. The other four each represent the sectors of business, human resources, the legal community and organized labor.
The commission meets every other year. This year’s commission will determine pay in 2015 and 2016.
In the past, county staff has furnished the group with salary comparisons for equivalent jobs in the region and other financial data.
Current salaries range from a high of more than $150,000 for the executive, to just over $100,000 for the county auditor, clerk and treasurer.
This year’s commission is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, then on June 11 and June 18. Those meetings are to take place in the executive office conference room on the sixth floor of the county’s west administration building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
The commission also plans to conduct a public hearing at 6 p.m. June 4 on the first floor of the county’s east administration building, also at 3000 Rockefeller. People are encouraged to attend the hearing and share thoughts about compensating elected leaders.
