50 years ago (1964)
Art Larson was to head Marysville Post No. 178, according to the balloting last week. Installation would be held at the next meeting, Sept. 9., following summer vacation. Assisting Larson would be senior vice-commander, Joel Palm; chaplain, Art Nelson; adjutant, Donald Blair; finance officer, Adolph Lundstedt and others to be named later.
Recently married were Carol Jean Linnihan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Linnihan, Marysville, and Jack Nelson LeGore, son of Mrs. John Pring of Spokane and Jack LeGore of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The couple were June graduates from Washington State University and would teach in Shoreline School District next fall.
25 years ago (1989)
Visitors to Jetty Island were advised not to be alarmed if they spotted big bivalves strolling the beach this summer. The giant clam costumes worn by actors in Ivar’s restaurant commercials would be loaned to Everett’s park department for its summer-long promotion of Jetty Island.
Navy Ensign Chad Acey of Lynnwood recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned in the Navy. He was to report to the naval station is Misawa, Japan.
