50 years ago (1963)
Seven more new teachers had been hired for Snohomish School District next term, making the total of new faculty members at 16, according to board clerk Hal Moe. Latest to be hired were Katherine Hunter, Carroll S. Brown, Nancy Hereth, Helga Edwards, Julia Newman, Judy A. Rupert and Irma Thompson.
Girls and boys who won Lift-a-Stick Games a local prizes for the most neatly prepared entries in the Young Hobby Club ice cream cone contests were Debbie McQuesten, Joey Donnell, Kathy Brokaw, Rebecca Jeschke, Cindy Solie, Jean Voie, Martha Herrring, Jane Kane, Debby Romerdahl and Mike Woodbury.
25 years ago (1988)
A poster promoting General Hospital Medical Center’s Heart and Stroll, a 10-kilometer walk, and Everett’s first Volksmarch earned a national marketing award. Designed by M. Fears &Co. Advertising and Public Relations, the poster featured a painting of the Everett waterfront by Everett artist Joe Root.
Supporters of 90-pound, 14-year-old Bruce McDonald, who would represent the boxing Club of the South Everett Boys and Girls Club an a national boxing tournament at Marquette, Mich., were embarking on a drive to raise $1,000 to help fund his trip.
