50 years ago (1963)
Two freshmen students were chosen Man and Woman of the Month at Everett Junior College by their fellow students. The woman was Patricia Malinosky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Malinosky. The man was Art Ruben, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Ruben. She was editor of the college’s student yearbook while he was active in drama.
Airman 3/C George Carlin, 1962 Everett High grad and son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carlin, recently was group leader for Century 21 Flight and was now assigned to Edwards Air Force Base to work on air research and development.
25 years ago (1988)
Landowners were showing interest in plans to save more wetlands in the Snohomish River Delta. Wetland parcels included west Smith Island and tideland, Quilceda Creek, North Ebey Island, Ebey Island, middle Spencer Island and Otter Island.
John Thrush of Pacific Component Inc. watched the demolition of a wall at Beverly Elementary School in Lynnwood. The school was one of four in the Edmonds School District undergoing renovation. Besides Beverly, Spruce Elementary and Alderwood and Meadowdale middle schools were being revamped.
