50 years ago (1964)

Carol Stuchell was hostess in her home at 902 Rucker Ave. for Gwen Harper, regional director of Camp Fire Girls. Also in attendance was Claudie Lind, Camp Fire leader in Arlington. The coffee hour was planned so adults in the program might meet the regional director during her annual week of field visits.

A young talent developing was that of Austin Dwyer, who was having an exhibit of his paintings at Black and King Galleries next week. Dwyer, a native of Ireland, came to Everett in 1961. He married Mig Peters of this city and they made their home here.

25 years ago (1989)

The appointment of Betty Woods of Edmonds to the Washington State Personnel Board was announced by Gov. Booth Gardner. Woods as executive vice president for administration for Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska. The governor stated that she brought extensive manager and human resources experience with her.

Arlington school bus driver Kris Macomber took advantage of the mild weather to hose ol’ No. 4. Macomber had been driving a school bus for 10 years, and besides keeping her bus clean also did minor maintenance checks.
