A small barn caught fire in the Snohomish area on Tuesday afternoon, and the smoke could be seen from town.
The fire was reported just after 4:30 p.m. in the 15900 block of Westwick Road, said Mike Gatterman, a battalion chief with Snohomish County Fire District 4 in Snohomish.
When crews arrived, the barn had collapsed and the fire was spreading, he said. They had to fight to keep the flames from getting into nearby brush.
“The barn was on the ground burning, but we had quite a large grass fire going around it,” he said.
The barn was empty at the time. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
