OLYMPIA — A bill ensuring Sound Transit imposes its property tax only on whole parcels has cleared the state Senate.
The legislation would affect 55 properties in Snohomish County that are partly inside and partly outside the Sound Transit taxing district.
Owners of those properties didn’t get to vote in 2016 on Sound Transit’s latest expansion plan because they live on the portion outside the district. But they have been taxed on the part that’s inside the district boundary.
Senate Bill 6475, sponsored by Sen. Steve Hobbs, D-Lake Stevens, passed 46-1. It is scheduled to be considered by the House Transportation Committee at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
