A look at the best games of the week

Girls soccer: Cascade at Kamiak, 7:30 p.m.

Two of the favorites in the Wesco South do battle, but the Knights might be without star goalkeeper Emma Makela due to injury.

Volleyball: Oak Harbor at Burlington-Edison, 7 p.m.

The Wildcats, behind junior Kayleigh Harper and senior Taylor Nienhuis, take on 2A defending state champ Burlington-Edison.

Football: Meadowdale vs. Inglemoor, 7 p.m.

This is a big nonconference test for the Mavericks, who are coming off of a 28-18 win over Kamiak. Not only is Inglemoor a tough 4A team, but Pop Keeney is a tough place to play for any visiting team.

Girls soccer: Marysville Pilchuck at Archbishop Murphy, 6 p.m.

This is an interesting nonconference matchup as the Bartley brothers meet for the second year in a row. Last season it was Mike Bartley’s Jackson team that beat brother Paul Bartley’s MP team. This season Michael is at Murphy.

Volleyball: Glacier Peak at Everett, 7 p.m.

Everett and Glacier Peak are two of the favorites in the Wesco North and South 3A, respectively, and this game will be an interesting early season matchup for both teams.

Boys soccer: Providence Classical Christian at Grace Academy, 4 p.m.

Both of these teams made the quarterfinals of the Class 1B/2B state tournament, with PCC making it to last year’s state championship game.

Football: Archbishop Murphy vs. University City (San Diego), 6 p.m.

The Wildcats travel to southern California to take on the Centurions at Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, Calif.

Football: Glacier Peak at Snohomish, 7 p.m.

For the first time since Glacier Peak came into existence four years ago the Grizzlies and Panthers face off on the gridiron. Both coaches, Snohomish’s Mark Perry and Glacier Peak’s Rory Rosenbach, either coached or played under longtime Snohomish coach Dick Armstrong.
