Jackson volleyball digs orange in support of local middle schooler

The Jackson volleyball team wants fans to dig orange tonight instead of think pink.

In a month dedicated to pink outs to raise awareness for breast cancer, the Timberwolves hold their Dig Orange event Tuesday night to raise awareness of leukemia and raise money for local middle schooler Colton Matter, who has battled cancer since being diagnosed three years ago with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Volunteers will sell T-shirst emblazoned with the words “Colton’s Army” and collect donations throughout the night with all funds raised going to Matter’s medical fund. Matter, who is an eighth grader at Heatherwood Middle School in Mill Creek, is currently at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia undergoing an experimental procedure.

The Jackson volleyball team will be wearing orange uniforms and socks during Tuesday night’s game against Lynnwood and is asking any fans in attendance to wear orange in support of Matter. The junior varsity game begins at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday night with the varsity game to follow.
