Learn gun safety
The Camano Law Enforcement Support Foundation plans a free firearm safety class Saturday.
It is set for 1 p.m. at the Camano Library. Attendees must be at least 12 and minors need to be accompanied by an adult relative. Topics include gun ownership and maintenance, and safety and shopping. Do not bring personal firearms. For more information, call 360-387-6357.
Help parents: The Lynnwood Police Department is looking for folks to become volunteer car seat technicians. The volunteers attend community events and help parents make sure that young children are safely secured in family vehicles. The work requires four days of training. Volunteers are asked to give up to eight hours a month for two years.

New park for Terrace: Plans are moving forward for a new three-acre park in Mountlake Terrace. The project involves a $270,000 from Snohomish County Conservation Futures. The undeveloped land is next to Terrace Creek Park, along 48th Avenue W, and belonged to the Harms family. The family wanted the land, which includes second-growth forest, to remain open space, according to a city news release.
Terrace Creek Park, also known as “Candy Cane Park,” is the city’s largest. Call 425-744-6206 for more information about the planned park addition.
