EVERETT — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office took an 11-year-old male into custody Monday afternoon after deputies said he showed up to Alderwood Middle School with two knives.
Sheriff’s office deputies responded to a report of a child on campus with a weapon just after 3 p.m., after school was dismissed for the day, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post Monday. The suspect fled on foot. Deputies located him and took him into custody. They recovered two knives from his person, the post said. He has since been transported to Denney Juvenile Justice Center for booking.
The school entered a modified after-school lockdown, which is now lifted. There were no injuries and there is no active threat to students or staff, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident comes one month after an 11-year-old male attempted to stab a student at Alderwood Middle School.
The boy linked to Monday’s incident previously attended a nearby elementary school and is no longer an Edmonds School District student, the sheriff’s office said.
