3A District 1 Tournament (First round, loser out)

Meadowdale 3, Oak Harbor 1

OAK HARBOR — The Mavericks (9-12) leaned on their defense and an eight-K, two-hit performance from pitcher Kealoha Kepo’o-Sabate (7 IP) to survive a first-round matchup with the host Wildcats. On offense, Meadowdale found all of its runs in the fourth inning, as Kepo’o-Sabate (2-for-3, SB, 2 RBI) brought in two runs on a hard-hit single in that frame. By the end of the game, the Mavericks went 9-for-27 and drew six walks. Meadowdale will face Everett on Thursday afternoon at Mariner H.S. in another loser-out game.

Shorecrest 3, Ferndale 0

SHORELINE — The Scots (13-8) got seven scoreless innings out of pitcher David Telling, who allowed just two hits and no walks to four strikeouts. Telling (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) had one of two Shorecrest extra-base hits on a fifth-inning RBI-double to push the lead to 3-0. Elyas Rojas (1-for-2, 2B, run) scored and hit the other double in the win. The Scots will face another loser-out situation when they take on Mountlake Terrace on the road Thursday afternoon.
