EVERETT — Organizations throughout Snohomish County will honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, beginning Jan. 18 for the federal holiday.

The People’s March, Everett
Snohomish County Indivisible and Women’s March Everett will hold a sign-waving rally 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday along the 3900 block of Broadway, Everett. Other Indivisible groups across the U.S. will host similar “Help Over Hate: MLK Weekend of Service” events. People can donate nonperishable food items in connection with the rally.
Sunday Celebration, Everett
The Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee has been holding MLK Day celebrations in Everett for more than 40 years. On Jan. 19, Pastor JJ Frank, the executive director of Marysville YMCA, will speak during the event 3:30-5:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. The event also features a performance from Greater Everett MLK Celebration Choir and presentations about youth activities in the community.
MLK Day of Service, Lynnwood
The city of Lynnwood will hold its annual MLK Day of Service 9 a.m. Jan. 20 at Lynnwood Senior Center, 19000 44th Ave West. Volunteers are needed to help beautify the Mesika Trail by pulling invasive species and planting trees. Those interested can RSVP on the city of Lynnwood website.
Annual MLK Tribute, Edmonds
Lift Every Voice will sponsor an MLK event 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday at Edmonds Waterfront Center, 220 Railroad Ave. The event, titled “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” will include family-friendly activities, such as youth performances, children’s book readings and games. “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” comes from the title of MLK’s last speech on April 3, 1968, the day before he was assassinated.
March & Rally, Everett
On Monday, part two of the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee’s Everett event will begin at 11 a.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium, 3900 Broadway. Attendees will march to Carl Gipson Center, 3025 Lombard Ave, where organizers will hold a rally ending at 2 p.m.
