FRANKFURT, Germany — Shoemaker and sports gear company Adidas AG says it has decided not to renew its partnership as official outfitter of the National Basketball Association.
Adidas said in a statement Monday that the partnership will end when the current agreement runs out after the 2016-2017 season.
The company, based in Herzogenaurach, Germany, said in a statement that “while we have enjoyed a successful long-term relationship with the league, we continually review our partner agreements to ensure they are meeting out investment and delivering on our brand and business needs.”
Under the partnership Adidas supplied the NBA with uniforms and held the rights to NBA-branded merchandise worldwide.
