The U.S. Air Force wants to hold daylong talks with the leading contenders for a lucrative aerial refueling tanker contract. As a result, the government won’t award its $40 billion deal until February.
After the Thanksgiving holiday, the Air Force will meet separately with the Boeing Co. and duo Northrop Grumman-EADS, reports Reuters.
Yes, this is yet another delay in the contract. But the Air Force doesn’t want to draw the process out even further by giving either competitor reason to protest its decision.
