Singapore Airlines finally has its hands on the first A380. Airbus delivered its delayed super jumbo jet to the carrier today.
Let’s take a look at what people are saying about the A380 …
From the Associated Press:
“Until now, the A380 has been Airbus’ baby. Today we are here to celebrate this beautiful mature aircraft coming of age.” —Thomas Enders, Airbus president, at the delivery ceremony.
“We are glad that Airbus took the time to make sure that the plane is fully tested and developed before it enters commercial service.” —Chew Choon Seng, Singapore Airlines chief executive.
From Bloomberg:
“It’s an important step in marketing the plane, but I wouldn’t say it takes them out of the woods. The next step is showing they can ramp up to a full production rate of 40 a year by 2010.” — Scott Babka, an analyst at Morgan Stanley in London
You can catch an interview with Enders on Spiegel’s site. You also can read analyst Richard Aboulafia’s take on how the A380 delay differs from the 787 delay at FleetBuzz.com.
