A new jobs protection program, funded by the federal American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill passed by Congress in the spring, aims to keep aerospace workers on the job.
The Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection Program can provide funding to eligible aviation manufacturing or repair businesses. Funds can be used to pay up to half the compensation costs for some categories of workers, for up to six months.
In return, a company is required to meet certain obligations, including a commitment that it will not involuntarily furlough or lay off employees within that group during the same six-month period.
Applications are due by July 13.
The federal program is administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation. To apply go to: bit.ly/35RhpU6.
