EVERETT — Qatar Airways is expected to announce orders for at least 30 Boeing 787 and 777 airplanes on Friday.
The two companies scheduled a news conference for Friday but declined to comment on specifics. However, a Boeing worker confirmed that the event has to do with widebody orders. The worker was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Bloomberg News reported last week that Qatar is considering ordering Boeing jets worth about $6.7 billion at list prices.
The order would help Boeing maintain 777 classic production rates as it transitions to a successor, the 777X.
