Boeing 777 delivered to Thai Airways

The Boeing Co. recently delivered a 777-200 Extended Range jet to Thai Airways International Public Co. Ltd. It is the first of four such planes that Boeing will deliver to Thai before the end of the year. An additional two 777-200ERs will be delivered in 2007. To date, 851 777s have been sold and 46 airlines worldwide own or operate the 777 jetliner. Thai’s newest jetliner left Paine Field on Wednesday on a ferry flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand, where it will bring the number of Boeing airplanes operated by Thai to 45 airplanes.

Eden’s poor results may prompt sale

Eden Bioscience of Bothell’s sales continued to fall in the third quarter as the company’s board of directors continue pondering a possible sale or other alternatives for the business. The developer of crop and plant enhancement products said sales totaled $258,000, down from $343,000 in the year-ago period. The third-quarter net loss for the business was $1.1 million, or 13 cents a share, compared with $4.5 million last year.

Expected cutbacks lift Intermec stock

A day after announcing a large drop in sales and an impending restructuring, shares of Intermec Inc. rose by $1.45, or more than 6 percent, to close Thursday’s trading at $23.77. The Everett maker of mobile computing and inventory-tracking products reported revenue dropped from about $220 million in the third quarter last year to just under $196 million in the latest period. Intermec will announce details of its restructuring plan later this month.

Lynnwood Kohl’s will open next week

Kohl’s, which opened a store in Marysville and stores in two other Western Washington locations last month, will open its new Lynnwood store next week. The grand opening for the department store at 18421 Alderwood Mall Parkway, across from Alderwood mall, will be Thursday. The store will employ about 150 people.

Business Vista available Nov. 30

Microsoft Corp. has announced it will release the business version of the long-anticipated update to its flagship operating system at an event at the Nasdaq Stock Market on Nov. 30. In addition to Windows Vista, the company said it also will release the Office 2007 software suite, which includes word processing and spreadsheet programs, and Exchange Server 2007 for e-mail and calendars.

Inflation feared as productivity drops

Growth in productivity – the key ingredient for rising living standards – skidded to a standstill in late summer while workers’ wages and benefits shot up at the fastest clip in more than two decades. The combination of slowing productivity and rising wages was seen as a formula for inflation troubles down the road. It could keep the Federal Reserve from cutting interest rates anytime soon and could possibly lead to another increase.
