In order to keep its delayed 787 on track, the Boeing Co. will add employees at its Everett factory, said the company’s chief executive, Jim McNerney, earlier this week.
Today, Boeing hosts a job fair from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Everett Station, located at 3201 Smith Ave. The company isn’t holding the event specifically for Dreamliner employment but for a variety of openings within Boeing.
After the industry downturn following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Boeing laid off workers here. With the launch of the 787 Dreamliner and the ramp up in production of Boeing’s other commercial jets, the company has been on a hiring spree the last few years, adding nearly 12,000 Machinists since 2004.
This month, I spoke with two production workers in Everett about the hiring process and their careers at Boeing.
