EVERETT — Triumph Group plans to layoff about half its Everett workforce starting in the fall, according to data filed with the state.
The aerospace supplier confirmed plans last week to close its Everett-based subsidiary, Triumph Structures-Everett, by March 2017. It notified the state that it plans to lay off 99 of its roughly 200 employees starting Sept. 30.
The timing coincides with Boeing’s plans to make fewer 747s starting in September. The airplane maker plans to cut production from one jumbo jet a month to one every two months.
Triumph Structures-Everett produces 747 components.
Triumph Group plans to move the work done in Everett to other facilities.
