The Boeing Co. is set to announce another delay in its 787 Dreamliner program on Friday, according to several reports.
More than two years behind schedule, Boeing had planned to deliver its first 787 by year’s end though company executives have said in recent months that delivery could slide into early 2011.
However, the CEO of Kenya Airways told ATW Online that Boeing officials told him the first 787 delivery will be delayed by three months.
Kenya Airways’ CEO Titus Naikuni said the carrier will consider canceling its 787 order if Boeing delays its 787 deliveries further.
ATW isn’t the only outlet reporting that a delay announcement is likely. Local analyst Scott Hamilton also predicted the slip on his Leeham News Web site. Hamilton believes the delay will be up to three months, to as late as the end of the first quarter of 2011.
