Oak Harbor contractor named Builder of the Year

Building Industry Association of Washington member and current president Bob Johnson was named 2014 Builder of the Year during a formal awards ceremony at BIAW’s Fall Board of Directors meeting in Cle Elum on Nov. 6. Johnson is an Oak Harbor contractor, owner of Ward-Johnson Masonry and Tile and a decorated veteran.

New Miller Paint store opens in Everett

Miller Paint celebrated their 125-year anniversary by signing a long-term lease for the building located at 4302 Rucker Ave. in Everett. Jason Willams has been named store manager for the new location. Other staff include Bob Southard, Holly Davidson and an associate team. The 100 percent employee-owned company that manufactures and sells high quality paint and coatings products is headquartered in Portland.

Learn about EvCC’s precision machining program

Information sessions about Everett Community College’s precision machining program are at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 16. The sessions are at EvCC’s Advanced Manufacturing Training &Education Center, 909 North Broadway, room 132. Nonprofit to raise money for Everett Animal Shelter

Nonprofit Animal Rescue Foundation of Everett is participating in their first Giving Tuesday event on Tuesday to raise money for animals cared for by the Everett Animal Shelter. Community members can donate online at www.everettarf.org/ or visit ARF at the shelter on Tuesday. All of the money raised on that day will go toward covering medical expenses for shelter pets.

Governor to talk at STEM summit

Gov. Jay Inslee will join more than 320 business and education leaders at the third annual Washington STEM summit in Redmond on Tuesday to discuss how communities across Washington state can drive the improvement of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education for all students.
