Peoples Bank names new VP, commercial loan officer

Tom Braaten has joined People’s Bank as senior vice president and commercial loan officer. Braaten has more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Washington and is currently a member of the Everett Navy League and the Everett Golf and Country Club. Braaten was born and raised in Everett.

Foggy Noggin named to Thrillist Best Small Breweries list

Foggy Noggin Brewing of Bothell made the Thrillist list of The Best Small Breweries You Don’t Know About, but Should. It was the only nanobrewery from Washington on the list. Thrillist praised the company’s traditional English style brews and its preference to deal in person with a small number of local customers. Foggy Noggin is owned by Jim Jamison.

Mountlake Terrace lauded for its solar efforts

Gov. Jay Inslee proclaimed the cities of Mountlake Terrace, Bellingham, Snoqualmie and the Regional Code Collaboration representing cities in King County, as Northwest Solar Communities, acknowledging their various initiatives that have increased residential solar installations by nearly 500 percent since 2013. They join the existing Solar Communities of Edmonds, Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island and Seattle.

Two UW Bothell student teams each win up to $25,000

Two University of Washington Bothell student teams received up to $25,000 each from a University-Microsoft partnership to develop Internet of Things applications that could have local and global impact. The teams will present their projects to Microsoft and the community on from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday in Discovery Hall Room 464.

Snohomish County exec named VP of regional council

On April 1, more than 200 local elected officials and regional leaders came together for the Puget Sound Regional Council’s annual meeting at Husky Stadium. Members voted to elect Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers as the vice president of the council. The assembly also helped kick off and set priorities for a new Regional Economic Strategy.
