Port of Everett awards $15,000 to support tourism

The Port of Everett Commission has awarded $15,000 in sponsorships to community events that support tourism within the Port District for this summer events season. The 2015 sponsorship recipients include the City of Everett’s Fourth of July festival, the Mukilteo Lighthouse festival, the Fresh Paint Arts festival and the Wheels on the Waterfront Car Show.

Frontier donates to Mountlake Terrace charity

Frontier Communications presented a check for $5,000 to Mountlake Terrace’s Cheeseburger Babies Foundation in recognition of its participation in the America’s Best Communities competition. With the help of this $5,000 grant, Cheeseburger Babies Foundation will expand its giving arm to include Snohomish County Fire District 1 Food, Gifts and Coat Drive.

Edmonds seeks comments on sign code

The sign code of the city of Edmonds is the topic of a public open house at 6 p.m. on Aug. 3 in the Edmonds City Council chambers. The main focus is on the A-frame signs downtown although any signage issue input is welcome. To review existing rules, go to www.edmondswa.gov/rules-and-regulations.html and select Community Development Code/Title 20/20.60 Sign Code.

Meetings to help people with disabilities become self employed

Village Community Services’ Inclusive Entrepreneurs program for people with disabilities and their families will offer two information sessions on self-employment. Both events are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. One is Aug. 11 at the Marysville Sno-Isle Library. The other is Aug. 13 at Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center.
