UW Bothell professor receives distinguished scholarship award

The University of Washington Bothell has selected Jennifer McLoud-Mann to receive the 2016 Distinguished Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity award. McLoud-Mann is an associate professor of mathematics in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Last year, she was part of a team that discovered the 15th way to interlock identically shaped pentagons with no holes or gaps covering a plane.

Diamond Knot, Scuttlebutt collaborate on Thai Me Up beer

Diamond Knot Craft Brewing has teamed up with Everett’s Scuttlebutt Brewing to collaborate on a beer for the Washington Beer Collaboration Festival scheduled for April 22 and 23 on South Lake Union. United Way launches web site to help people get involved with nonprofits

United Way of Snohomish County is launching a new web page to help community members to get involved with local nonprofits. Some opportunities currently listed on Get Connected include volunteering for the Mill Creek Mobile Food Bank on April 14, Everett Food Bank on April 16, and the Letter Carrier’s Food Drive on May 14. Community Health Center extends service in Lynnwood to seven days a week

Community Health Center of Snohomish County’s Lynnwood Clinic Medical Walk-In has extended its service to seven days-a-week. The clinic is also open on all major holidays, except Thanksgiving and Christmas day. Walk-In wait times and other information can be found on CHC’s website. The Lynnwood Clinic is located at 4111 194th St. SW, Lynnwood.

National Small Business Week planned in May

National Small Business Week 2016 kicks off next month. This year’s theme is Dream Big, Start Small. National Small Business Week is being held from May 1 through 7, and is an annual event hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration to recognize the nation’s top small businesses, entrepreneurs, small business advocates and champions.
